Nigerian politician who is also a Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot, is currently facing a backlash on social media after a video of him surfaced online.
In the video, Desmond Elliot was heard calling on the speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly to do something about social media.
According to him, celebrities and social media influencers are using social media to propagate hatred for Nigeria.
A social media influencer, Dr Olufunmilayo earlier revealed on his Twitter page that the Lagos State House of Assembly was developing a bill to regulate and control speech on social media.
Dr Olufunmilayo states that Desmond Elliot is said to be one of those pushing the bill in the Lagos State House Of Assembly.
Desmond Elliot however, released a video denying the allegation that he was the one pushing for the development of the bill to regulate and control speech on social media.
Dr Olufunmilayo responded to Desmond Elliot’s denial, asking him to release evidence of what he truly said.
Reacting to the video which has now been made public, social media users are attacking Desmond Elliot for what he said in the video.
In the video which has surfaced and has now gone viral on social media, Desmond Elliot was shown calling on the speaker to do something about social media else Nigeria will not exist in 5 years.
