Three missing children have been found dead in a car parked inside a policeman’s compound at Ugwu Ogede in Itchi, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The bodies of three missing children were found in a car parked at the home of a retired police officer on Monday, November 23,2020.
The children identified as Chibugo Eze, Chinenye Eze, and Ebuka Eze who are of the same parents were found dead after their parents of a search team.
They were reported missing after they went to fetch water at a commercial borehole owned and located at the home of the former police officer.
According to two other siblings of the deceased children, Kingsley Eze, and Mmasichukwu Eze, Who were also resuscitated after being rescued from the car, some hooded men abducted them and left them in the car.
The children who survived said that the hoodlums returned in the middle of the night to take them away but we’re unable to open the doors of the car because they were faulty, so they abandoned the children and ran away.
The parents of the children who raised a search team when the five children went missing, revealed that they had gone to the borehole at about 8am on Sunday, November 22, but they did not return home.
The traditional ruler of the community, HRH, Igwe Ike Oke, who confirmed the incident said that he also mobilised personnel of vigilante and Forest Guard groups who joined in the search of the missing children.
Also confirming the incident, Ifeanyi Eze, the youth leader of Nkalagu Obukpa community where the victims hailed from, described the news as shocking and reassured the community that their leaders are working towards unraveling the circumstances which led to the mysterious death of the children.
