An officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service which was formerly known as Nigerian Prison Service, has reportedly committed suicide.
The officer identified as Alfred Bassa committed suicide after he was allegedly being denied promotion three times.
He allegedly wrote promotional examinations three times and passed but was allegedly denied promotion.

According to Peoples Gazette, Alfred Bassa, a Microbiology graduate of the Nasarawa State University, drank a poisonous substance on October 2, 2020 after arriving at work at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Keffi, Nasarawa State.
He took the drastic decision as a new set of officers were reportedly promoted last week and he was left out again.
The 28-year-old deceased was meant to marry his fiancée in November, 2020.
Late Alfred Bassa has been buried. He was buried on the 3rd of October, 2020.
