Five suspected kidnappers who abducted and killed 3 undergraduates of the University of Port Harcourt, have been arrested by men of the Rivers State Police command.
The suspects were also paraded on Wednesday in front of journalists that were at the police command.
Barely 72 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the police to fish out the culprits, the arrest of the 5-man gang was a success.
The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Joseph Gabum Mukan, while briefing journalists, said the victims, Joy Adoki, Fortune Obemba and Nelson Nwafor were abducted at Choba on the 7th of April and the case was reported to the Anti-Kidnapping unit, who swung into action immediately and arrested one Bright Iheachi, the leader of the gang.
He was the one that made the confession to eventually led to the arrest of other members of the gang.
CP Makun said the its recovered from the miscreants include; one AK-47 rifle, 3 magazines and 72 rounds of live ammunition.
Bright Iheachi the leader of the gang, said on interrogation that he had a business deal with Nelson Nwafor and was betrayed by him, which led to kidnap and killing of him with the two others, Joy and Fortune who were in his company as at the time of the operation.
