Apparently speaking, men of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad are allegedly on a raid, breaking into the homes of people living in Yaba, Ojuelegba, Shomolu and other parts of Lagos state.

According to several online reports, the officers stormed these areas around 10pm on Thursday night, October 15, 2020 and have been going from home to home beating and packing people into their vans.

The reason of their raid is yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, but there are speculations that the raid is in connection to the ongoing protest in Lagos state and beyond.

In a couple of videos I obtained, it shows the moment the officers were packing people inside their van and also the moment they came breaking into peoples’ homes knocking on their door.

It’s also gathered that the raid has reached Surulere with residents panicking and call for assistance through social media.

Those staying around these areas and environs are being advised not to open their doors to anyone.

The Lagos state emergency response unit has been contacted concerning the issue and they said they are on top the matter.

This incident is coming barely one week the Inspector General of Police dissolved SARS following reports of police brutality, extrajuducial killings and extortion from Nigerians.
