There is an ongoing protest in Owerri, Imo State, over the death of a 21-year-old boy, identified as Leo Micah aka Leo Wire, who was allegedly kidnapped last week in the State and taken to Anambra State, where his dead body was recovered in a bush.
According to reports, some men in military uniforms claiming to be soldiers, had arrested him and accused him of being a fraudster.
They reportedly took him along with his car to Anambra, where they held him hostage and demanded N4million as ransom.
It was gathered that his younger brother was contacted but couldn’t raise the money as he just buried their mother and Leo didn’t even attend because he had been kidnapped.
The men who didn’t receive the ransom, later emptied Leo’s account and sold his Lexus-350 SUV. They eventually killed him but words got to his family who then informed the SARS division in Owerri who took action and tracked the phone, his car, and the bank account the money was transferred into.
One of the kidnappers was caught in the process and he took the SARS operatives to the bush where his body was dumped.
He confessed to the crime and revealed that they used a huge stone to kill him and thereafter poured a substance on him.
Friends and families have now taken to social media and the streets of Imo to protest his killing and demanding that the remaining culprits be brought to justice.
